Department Of Glaucoma

What is glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a result of the collection of fluid within the eye and the resultant increase in intraocular pressure. This pressure affects the sensitive optic nerve, resulting in irreversible damage. Glaucoma has earned the title of “the silent stealer of eyesight.” The most tragic aspect of glaucoma is that vision loss is irreversible. Glaucoma is among the most dangerous conditions that affect the human eye. It may go unnoticed in the early stages due to its lack of symptoms. Early detection improves treatment outcomes.

Glaucoma symptoms

  • Feeling of low vision in a dark area or at night.

  • Observing bright haloes or rings around bulbs.

  •  A decrease in vision that often goes unnoticed.

  • In addition to headaches, the eyes are red and painful.

  • Prescriptions for glasses are rapidly changing.

Treatment modalities

Our well-trained glaucoma team provides diagnostic and medical glaucoma treatment, including lasers, glaucoma shunts, and valves, along with surgical management of glaucoma.

Choithram Netralaya’s treatment of glaucoma aims to preserve the remaining vision of patients and reduce IOP (intraocular pressure) so that the condition does not worsen.
